Looking for something fun and worthwhile to do Aug. 9-10? How about giving a few hours to help out with a playground build at Dorothy Dalgliesh School in Picture Butte?
There's a job for everyone, whether flipping burgers or assembling equipment, says parent volunteer and project organizer Sandra Fremsted.
The build is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10.
If you can assist, please call Fremsted at 403-757-2119 or Kelly McLeod at 403-643-2573.
The playground project has enjoyed considerable community support with a $40,000 grant from the Community Facilities Enhancement Program; $17,000 from the County of Lethbridge Land Trust Reserve Fund; $10,000 from Richardson Pioneer Ltd. in Nobleford; $20,000 from the Public School Betterment Society of Picture Butte; and $5,000 from the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta.
When the project is complete and all gifts in kind are tallied, the playground will represent about a $100,000 investment.
