Palliser School Division is pleased to announce that Jason Porteous has accepted the role of Vice-Principal at County Central High School, commencing August 26, 2024.
As a dedicated educator and leader, Jason has taught a wide variety of Social Studies courses from Grades 7-12 and has been a Principal with both Horizon School Division and Livingstone Range School Division. In addition, Jason has worked in Outreach programs as a Curriculum Coordinator and LAN Administrator.
Jason is firmly committed to rural education and establishing County Central High School as a school that provides our students the highest quality educational experience. He also is deeply devoted to working with the community, students, staff and parents, to ensure that meaningful contributions will enhance academics and culture. He obtained his Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and later, earning a graduate diploma in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from the University of Calgary, as well as his Master of Education, specializing in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning.
Focusing on quality relationships and ensuring curriculum is translated into exciting learning opportunities, Jason notes, “I am excited to work alongside Phillip and bring my energy, excitement, and humour to County Central. I will be working hard to use my love of learning and students to create an environment where everyone enjoys success."
Jason and his wife Annette are raising their grandson and enjoy spending time in the mountains or at their camper. He regularly marks Social Studies diploma exams and looks forward to joining the Palliser School Division this fall.
