Grade 9 to 12 students from across Palliser and their parents/guardians are welcome to attend a post-secondary fair at Kate Andrews High School.

The event runs from 9 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 2112 21 Street, Coaldale.

The fair will feature recruiters from 18 organizations, including all of Alberta’s post-secondary schools, the Canadian Forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Susan Schmidt, the career and academic counsellor at Kate Andrews High School and Coalhurst High, said the fair is a great opportunity for Grade 9 and 10 students to explore the wide range of opportunities available to them. It’s still early in their high school lives, so the fair is a chance to discover programs they might not have thought about before.

For Grade 11 and 12 students, post-secondary life is quickly becoming a reality. They can use the fair to focus on more of the specifics each institution offers, such as scholarships, sports programs, residence options and more, Schmidt says.

The fair is an opportunity to confirm admission requirements for programs of specific interest to the student; learn more about specific programs; collect information about costs and scholarship opportunities; what supports and activities are available on campus; and how to arrange for a campus tour.

The fair is organized through the Educational Liaison Association of Alberta. The ELAA website includes resources for students and parents, including scholarship information. Visit http://www.elaa.ab.ca/students
