Alberta Education has announced a Math Bursary Program for pre-service and in-service teachers. The goal of the bursary is to provide funding to encourage eligible current and future Alberta K-12 teachers to take a qualifying math pedagogy course.

Bursaries in the amount of $1,000 are available to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria. To receive this award, applicants must be:

  • enrolled in a Bachelor of Education degree program with at least 60% of a full course load, with satisfactory academic standing, and must be taking a bursary-eligible qualifying math course that is extra to your B.Ed. program mathematics course requirements (please see FAQs for details); and
  • a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

OR

  • an Alberta certificated teacher in good standing who is currently employed in an Alberta K-12 accredited school.
