Menno Simons Christian School in Calgary will play host to the Canadian Association of Mennonite Schools Music Festival Concert May 4.
The music festival, held every four years, will bring together several Mennonite schools from across Canada for performances at Ambrose University College, 150 Ambrose Circle SW, Calgary.
Rehearsals and performances begin Thursday, May 1, and continue until a final public performance on Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m.
The Menno Simons choir has 60 students, but a mass choir at the festival will bring together 350 student voices.
The public is invited to the final concert. Doors open for rush seating at 2:30 p.m. for a 3 p.m. concert, Sunday, May 4, at Ambrose University College - 150 Ambrose Cir SW, Calgary. A free will offering will be taken during the event.
CAMS Music Festival was established by the Canadian Association of Mennonite Schools with a few goals in mind:
- to promote high standards of excellence in the performance of sacred music
- to provide music students and directors with the opportunity to share with each other musically and socially
- to foster an active connection between students, teachers and administrators of Mennonite schools across Canada
