County Central brings home three medals
Three students from County Central High School in Vulcan earned medals at the South West Regional Skills Canada Competition at Lethbridge College April 15.
Earning silver medals were Karmen Mix in photography and Devon Scott in welding.
Codi Ashbacher was awarded a bronze in photography.

Coalhurst wins first Skills medals; KAHS continues long tradition of Skills
Congratulations to students from Coalhurst High School and Kate Andrews High School for their medal-winning performances at the South West Regionals Skills Canada Competition held at Lethbridge College April 15.
Coalhurst High’s Michaela Horak captured gold in Grade 9 photography, and will compete provincially in mid-May.
Earning bronze medals were Coalhurst High’s Simon Wipf and Sheila Entz in the video production competition.
Gold, silver and bronze medals were also earned by students at Kate Andrews High School, Coaldale.
Reanne Bouvier won gold in the senior hairstyling competition, and Christen Gross won gold in fashion. Both have earned the opportunity to compete at the provincial level next month.
Naomi Van Liere was awarded a silver medal in the junior hairstyling competition and also qualified for the provincial skills event.
Amy Janzen took bronze in the junior hairstyling event, and fellow Kate Andrews student Marcella Roelofs earned bronze in the culinary competition.
The Provincial Skills Canada Competition will be held in Edmonton May 13-14 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. High school and post-secondary students from across Alberta will compete in 45 trade and technical events, completing projects designed by experts in fields that vary from autobody repair and welding and video production to baking.
