Sharon Rutledge
Ward 1, Subdivision 1
I was born in Lethbridge and raised on the family (Poche) dairy farm east of the Research Station. I attended McNally School and graduated from Kate Andrews High School in 1967, before enrolling at the University of Lethbridge and obtaining my B.Ed. and Professional Diploma in Special Education.
I began my teaching career with the County of Lethbridge in 1970 and retired in 2002. Over that span I taught Grade 1 at Readymade School, R.I. Baker and Coalhurst Elementary, and was an Itinerant Resource Teacher at Sunnyside, McNally and both Coalhurst Elementary and High schools.
I enjoy new challenges and in 1984 completed my private pilot's licence, and later that year flew to Europe on the Concorde. My sister and I also developed a rural residential subdivision and own and operate the family farm company.
I am a 20-year member of Sweet Adelines and sing with the Southern Accord Chorus. I served on the board for 10 years as treasurer. Once a week I entertain in nursing homes and seniors lodges in and around Lethbridge, and also plan a monthly breakfast outing for seniors.
I live on the family farm with my husband Craig, who is a retired captain from the City of Lethbridge Fire Department.
