More leadership appointments announced

Palliser Regional Schools is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments for the 2015-2016 school year, effective Aug. 25.

Nathan Sillito, Co-ordinating Principal
Palliser Regional Schools

Nathan Sillito has been appointed Co-ordinating Principal for Palliser, moving from his role as principal of Barons and Carmangay schools. He had led those programs for Low German-speaking Mennonite students for the past three years.

Sillito earned his Bachelor of Education as an elementary generalist from the University of Alberta in 2001. He completed his master’s degree from the University of Lethbridge in 2013, focusing on assessment for learning and teacher education.

A teacher in Palliser since 2006, Sillito also served as a vice-principal of Vulcan Prairieview Elementary. Previous teaching experience was in St. Paul Regional School Division.

Sillito takes over the role vacated by Terri-Lynn Duncan, who is leaving Palliser for an opportunity in another jurisdiction.

Dan Ryder, Principal
Hutterian Colony Schools

Dan Ryder has been appointed to the role of Principal, Hutterian Colony Schools, replacing Wayne Tate, who is retiring at the end of June. Ryder will work in collaboration with Hutterian Colony Principal Danny Roberts, supporting the instructional needs of students at the division’s 17 colony schools.

Ryder earned his bachelor degree from the University of Lethbridge in 1989, and his master’s degree also from the U of L in 1995, specializing in curriculum and instruction. He began his teaching career with the County of Lethbridge and has been with Palliser since it was created in regionalization in 1995.

Ryder has been vice-principal of Hofmann Colony School for the past year, and worked in Central Office prior to that, initially as Co-ordinating Principal of School Development, then as Director of Learning.

Lindsey Hagen, Vice-Principal
R.I. Baker Middle School

The new vice-principal of R.I. Baker Middle School, Coaldale, comes to Palliser from a neighbouring jurisdiction.

Lindsey Hagen takes over the position from Jason Prebushewski, who moves into the principal role for the fall.

Hagen graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in Social Studies with a minor in English Language Arts, from the University of Alberta in 2008. She obtained her Master of Curriculum Studies from the University of Saskatchewan in 2013.

She joins Palliser from Horizon School Division where she has served as principal of Hays School since 2013. Prior to that, she taught in Stettler and Trochu.
